THANK-YOU to the Ladies of the Catholic Women’s Guild for their most generous gift to St. Michael’s Church of £500.00.

REFLECTION FOR THE SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT.

As we saw in last week’s Gospel:

• Lent is also the time to go into the desert with Jesus.
• There we confront our own sinfulness and weakness.
• We are confronted by the demons who try to stop us persevering.
• There we meet God in a deeper way and commit ourselves to Him forever.

Following the wilderness experience we will:

• Like the Apostles SEE Jesus transformed into LIGHT (see Psalm 104:1-2).
• HEAR God the Father reveal who Jesus really is.
• SEE a vision of Moses an Elijah (Law and Prophets) showing the place of Jesus as the fulfilment of God’s Word.
He is THE WORD INCARNATE.

The veil is closed again so that the Apostles continue their journey of faith and hope.
Today the Church lets US have a preview of the glory to come in order to encourage us to go deeply into the Lenten mystery, keeping our eyes fixed on the glory to come.

Please remember our parishioners who are sick in your prayers this week.
